Hotel Osejava stands at the foot of the majestic Biokovo mountain where the stones of Makarska touch the blueness of the sea. The name of the hotel suggests both the pleasure of shade (osoja) and the beautiful pine forest which surrounds the hotel. The Hotel Osejava is a hotel of tradition and memories, being built on the same foundation as its predecessor with the same name. In 1929, the first Hotel Osejava was opened and was known for years as the most eminent hotel in Makarska. Famous persons who were regular guests at the Hotel include the poet Tin Ujević, Nobel Prize winner Alberto Moravia, the Czech statesman Jan Masaryk and many others. The newly built Hotel Osejava follows in that same glorious tradition. The Makarska Riviera, with its widely known beautiful beaches and crystal clear sea water, has always been a jewel of Middle Dalmatia. Makarska is about 60 km south of Split and only 20 km from the Split airport.
